Welcome Letter from Neil Talbott

Hello! Welcome to Children of the Way Ministries! I believe that it was providence, not coincidence, that you discovered our website today!

My name is Neil Talbott and I am in charge of our newsletter ministry. In May of 2009, it became a burning desire in my heart to share with my friends and family the amazing truths that God was showing me through His Word.

At age five, in prayer, I asked Jesus Christ to be my Savior. Eighteen years later, in the late 1990s, God called me to preach His Word. It would take another seven years for me to totally surrender to this commission. My surrender came while being incarcerated, after falling to the crushing hand of addiction. I began serving God to the best of my ability early in my incarceration, and for the past six years, I have experienced great personal transformation in my life.

Throughout this journey, amazing things have begun. The first was a radical metamorphosis that occurred as God filled me freshly with His Holy Spirit and brought me under the liberating power of His presence. Then, in the early months of 2009, the birth and formulation of this ministry began. With 21 postage stamps and a list of friends and family, I penned our first newsletter. (See May 2009 in the Newsletter section.) One year later, we are approaching 100 recipients of Children of the Way Ministries newsletter, and hopefully thousands more will be reached through the initiation of this website!

The Mission of Children of the Way Ministries is to preach, teach, and encourage by applying biblical principles, while allowing Jesus Christ to become caretaker of our lives. We extend an invitation to you: Come and join this exciting faith-building ministry as it expands. As explained in the first newsletter of May 2009, our ministries name is derived from the first title ascribed to followers of Christ, at the birth of His church. It was later in the delivery of Christ's bride, that the name "Christian" was sanctioned. (The disciples were called Christians firstly at Antioch. [Acts 11:26]) Prior to this identification, followers of Jesus were referred to as "those of the way." (See Acts 9:2) Thus, "Children of the Way." As Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV) As followers of Christ we are "of the way."

Neil Talbott There are many ways proposed to mankind that offer the life of excellence. Jesus' way has proven to be the most influential and effective. Most of all, His promise of a spiritual birth for those who trust Him as their Savior, has produced more changed lives than any other religion. No other influence has inspired the development of educational establishments, medical centers, civilization, governments, or personal transformations than the life-changing power of Jesus Christ, and God's Word recorded in the Bible.

I would like to invite you to join this ministry as we seek to follow Jesus Christ into His personal plan for our lives. May God's face shine upon you as you join us in this way!
